Welcome to Penrose Meditation

Penrose Meditation is run by me, Marie Penrose. I teach individuals how to meditate in a way that suits them and I support every step of their journey.

Since experiencing how healing and transformative mindfulness meditation can be first hand, passing on what I have learned has become one of my greatest passions in life. I love to help individuals reclaim their true nature by stepping into the present moment.

The training techniques I use have ancient roots but have been modernised so that they are more easily applied to the 21st Century mind and the types of lifestyles we lead today.

Why Meditate?

Meditation is one of the best routes to becoming mindful in your everyday life. To be mindful is to experience the present moment exactly as it is, without unhelpful thought patterns, negative emotions and unconscious habitual behaviours altering your perception of it.

You will still experience all of the mind chatter and emotions that make us human but instead of attaching to your current mood or mental narrative as if it defines you, you will learn a new level of awareness that enables you to simply observe as different thoughts and feelings come and go. Without clinging onto attachments and judgements, there is freedom. This freedom is always there and available to all of us in the present moment.

To be free is to feel connected to all aspects of yourself: mind, body and spirit, as well as everything and everyone around you. It is to be at peace with all of these things. This makes for a truly fulfilling life experience. Mindfulness brings you closer to the way in which we are actually designed to experience life – our brains have not evolved at the same rate as our environment, which means we can feel like ducks out of water as our ancient minds try to keep up with all that the modern world offers and entails. To achieve genuine wellbeing and return to the peaceful state of mind we we are designed for, we must do what we can to resurrect our natural stance, which is in fact mindfulness. We are born into this natural state of awareness and unlearn it as we grow from children to adults. Our job now is come full circle and restore it once again.

Who is it for?

One of the biggest myths about meditation is that it isn’t for everyone. There are so many different types of meditation practices and techniques out there that it can be easy to try something that isn’t suitable for you and as a result write-off meditation altogether.

I like to see meditation like food; we all need it yet we have different preferences and requirements. You wouldn’t deny yourself all food because you once ate something that didn’t agree with you. Meditation is no different – there is something out there that is the perfect fit for each and every one of us, it’s just about exploring the options and seeing what fits. And just like taste buds, what takes our fancy may alter on different days.

The key to exploring meditation is to be open. The only thing you need to start is pure curiosity. You don’t need to deem yourself as spiritual or adhere to any type of religion to join one of my classes. Everyone is welcome.

1-2-1 Sessions

I offer one-to-one sessions in person or virtually by either Zoom, FaceTime or WhatsApp. These sessions are built around you, so a separate 15 minute phone call is arranged ahead of the session for us to get to know each other a bit better and discuss what it is you want to get out of our time together. Each one-to-one is an hour long opportunity to start building (or if you are experienced, enhancing) your very own meditation practice.
